Some of you know that Luke is 16 and always wanted a Mini.
After a lot of debate in our house, we opted for this one, simply because it was cheap.

It wasn't a good option.
The Mini was fairly sound and although I had been told that the engine was good, it proved (after hours of trying to sort it out) to be knackered.
This was it at it's best. Note the oil burning in the background!

The wiring was horrendous and has been removed. It now has only 3 wires to run the engine.
The inner wings had been removed. This was supposed to be for a "big" engine to be fitted at a later date.
It did come with lots of goodies though.....
The HIF 44 card on water cooled inlet manifold.
The LCB exhaust manifold and full stainless steel exhaust with wheelbarrow tailpipes.
Hi lo's all round. These have been set to stupid heights and still will need to be put right.
Gaz adjustable shocks all round.
A fancy body kit which sets the car off nicely.
Revolution wheels.
Fuel tank with internal filler. Body welded over filler hole.
The seller also delivered it to me for a tenner!
The resoration has started......
We have made it secure as the locks didn't work.
Inner wings have been made and fitted. The Mini has had brace bars fitted so this will make a very strong front of the car.
We have removed the knackered 1000cc engine. The engine bay has been painted and so has the 1275cc engine from an SPi. This has been good but sourcing silly bits has been a pain. It is now working and we can drive the Mini again.
We are currently trying to sort the brakes. The car had been stood "for a couple of years" and the brakes had all but siezed on. They are currently in bits.
The future....
We have now got a wiring loom but it is from a much earlier Mini so will need some adjustments to get it to work properly.
The dash has been removed and we have got a sliding speedo from a Austin 1100. This will make a good feature for our home made dash.

The body work is quite good but the body kit has cracked along the joints. This will get glued back on and filled and then we shall respray the whole car.
Luke wants to get some Cobra seats. These are out of my price range so who knows what the interior is going to look like. Currently it has poor condition, Cavalier seats welded in.
Luke is 17 in March......
